Yes, I would consider moving up to the Dell 27 inch monitor. The text on that 27 incher is bigger and easier to read, and the 27 inch model gives you something closer to two smaller units side-by-side.

Samsung is cheaper and, IMHO, just as good, however, the 2407 had some features that made me buy this rather than the Samsung 245BW. Both sould give close to equal performance. I believe that ACER is out of business and is the parent of BenO who makes the DELL 2407.

I have heard before that BenQ makes the Dell 2407. Are you sure about this? It's not easy for me (3rd world difficulties) to source a Dell 2407, but I have seen BenQ in the shops...

Absolutely certain. In fact, I believe that DELL bought ACER or Ben Q recently, i.e. within the last 18 months. I also did the research before I bought mine.

I do not know, Athena as the 2407 IS made to DELL specifications whereas the Samsung SynchroMaster 245 BW is not.

In one review I read, they said this about the Dell 2407...

The only qualms that we have are with banding in synthetic tests and some slight colour compression when looking at high-resolution photographs. We had to say that, given that this price is almost the same as the Samsung 244T, you'd possibly want to consider the Samsung, which has absolutely spot-on color reproduction - although it only has two side-mounted USB 2.0 ports and no card reader. Also, we'd argue that it doesn't look quite as nice as the 2407WFP on your desk.

Here was the review, if you need to know.

I'm using BenQ FP222W and I'm very happy with it.
