Question Cablenut?

In the old days, there never used to be enough computer speed. Now there's never enough Internet speed. Even if you're on a fast DSL, cable, or ISDN line, your Internet speed will suffer from time to time, especially with the growing popularity of multimedia online.

So is the free CableNut a solution? The software is supposedly designed to ensure that your computer and broadband Internet connection are running at top speed.

Never trust any software site that takes an icon and blows it up to a 280 pixelated image as a logo.

Anything that "tweaks" the TCP/IP stack has the opportunity to screw something up. It's fairly easy to reinstall the stack (in Safe Mode, replacing some dlls, etc.) as needed if required.

Personally, beyond some tweaking on MS's site, I don't go into this level that often. I would bet that you'd get about the same level of performance increase by simply using a few things on Microsoft's site after searching for "improve network performance".
