Default New Smugmug & ACDSee Photo Manager

If you use ACDSee Photo Manager to upload pics to Smugmug then you know that that software (version 12 in my case) no longer works. Contacted ACDSee about it and they said the newest version (version 17.0) works.

Anybody can verify that. I know I can download a trial but I'm not a big fan of that method.

Appreciate any input. Cheers.

Update:

Downloaded & installed ACDSee 17, but for some reason I couldn't start it. It kept saying that I have to connect to the internet when I am connected. Had the same problem about a year ago.

Anyway. Anybody knows if ACDSee works with Smugmug (I can buy a hard copy instead of a download).

Cheers

Guys, need a way to upload the pics to Smugmug, as my family is literally waiting right now to see the photos from today's gathering.

It's not opening in Chrome either. Oh, I forgot, they spend half their time maintaining the site.

Jeez!

Two updates:

- Used LR 5 to upload the pics to Smugmug. Took a while & some effort, but it worked eventually.

- Just bought ACDSee Photo Manager 17, and I can confirm that it works with the new Smugmug.

All is good now. Happy happy

Oh, and the family loved the photos from that gathering You can see a couple of them in this thread.

Why not just use one of the two uploaders that Sumgmug provides? Just browse to the files you want to upload, select them and hit upload. Done deal no need for additional software or plugins.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Bob. That method uploads the file as is. Meaning, if the pic is 5 MB in size, that method will upload 5 MB file.

Again, correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes it does and I guess it never occurred to me that you would not be taking personal control of your file reduction and compression. I always downsize my images prior to upload.

However as Smugmug offers unlimited storage you could still upload full size files and than limit the output size in gallery customization. Thus effecting an online backup for your high res files

I do it the same way as Bobby. I rarely compress file I upload to SmugMug so I am basically using the site as a backup to my backup of final edited files.
