Default No More Adobe, Photoshop, Lightroom...GONE!

Here are the circumstances (hypothetical):
You are a photographer. You are proficient using photoshop and lightroom and do most of all your own editing for the kind of work you do whether it is Professional or Amateur.

The NEWS:
Adobe Inc. is no longer. The company is GONE, no software of any kind...nothing! The black hats and suits are going around to all the users and zapping any and all computers using Adobe software. Gone...Does not function. ZAPPP! You have no Adobe software of any kind to use.

Well, you say, you don't care because Adobe was really beginning to tick you off and you felt they were really getting too big for their own good. Good riddens, you say!

Now, you sit down to your computer and Oh....Oh...you realize you don't have anything to edit your images with.

In answering the following question, please include the following:
  • Software Level of experience with LR or Photoshop, ie, hobby, Serious, Semi-pro, professional, genius.
  • System you use: Mac or PC.
  • Photography experience; newbie- you just gave up the idea of becoming a pro golfer and think this is fun, hobbyist - edit and print your own work but it's mostly a week-end distraction, Advanced - you are heavy into photography but don't earn your living by it, maybe you are even a retired professional, Professional 40-60+ hrs a week, this is your bread and butter and you feed your family with the money you earn from it.
QUESTION:
What alternate software do you turn to, to do your editing? What do you feel is the very best alternatives to Adobe?
What are your two top choices you are going to try or buy ??

YOUR ANSWER:
My two top choices are:

Because:

1. Don't use any of the above
2. Mac
3.Hobbyist

As a general rule, I'd rather dump a photo than do significant editing. I have iPhoto on my mac which allows most minor adjustments, but for me photos should be as natural as possible. Then again, I don't do huge amounts of photography, and I don't make a living out of it, so the need for a editing software is not as important :P

I bet the other software companies (Non Adobe) wish this on a daily basis.

No problem, I use Paint Shop Pro more than I use Photoshop anyway. If worse comes to worse I can use Gimp too. Photoshop ain't all that!

I don't follow your logic there, at all.

Just because you haven't done any processing on it doesn't make it "natural" - it just makes it underexposed/overexposed/on a slant/in need of cropping !
It seems to be a common "belief" that anyone who "photoshops" a photograph is somehow manipulating the original into an untruth. Not so - Photoshop (or any similar software) is an essential tool in extracting the best out of the photograph that you get out of your camera.
.........and anyway, what is wrong in removing the odd sensor dust spot from your final image

Would not bother me much... Back when we shot positive film, we used to have to get the shot we wanted "in the camera". Digital photography or Photoshop hasn't changed the need to master that at all in my opinion!

Semi pro commercial photographer with a background in graphic design and illustration

I have been using Corel products since the early 90's so all my heavy duty stuff has always been with Corel Photo-Paint (Corel no longer is supporting Mac. It seems Apple pissed them off and they stopped developing for that platform. Go figure.)

The majority (90%) of my standard processing is done in LigthRoom and I would miss it for a minute if it was gone. If I didn't have LR it would probably be AfterShot.

As annoyed as I have been with the CC move, I think if Ps disappeared tomorrow I'd be crying in my milk. When CC was announced I looked around and didn't see anything out there that can replace Ps for me. It was a sad and sobering moment.

Hey, scatterbrained, I like your Cambo. I bought a Legend and just had a lens board outfitted for my dSLR. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet. How do you like it?

Hmm... I should actually ask that one in its own thread, huh...
