I teach history at a small technical college, and I write most of my lectures on my iPad. I use Keynote to drive the lectures on an LCD overhead projector and sound system. I also create online content using iMovie and Avid Studio.

I use GarageBand and Amplitube to record music, mostly guitar. I used to have a cassette 4-track recorder, and Amplitube basically does the same thing, plus all the effects and amplifiers are built-in.

I also edit most of my photos using either Photogene, Filterstorm Pro, Snapseed, or lately, iPhoto. I can then upload them to Zenfolio with their myZenfolio app and get them printed at Mpix.

I really like using my iPad for writing. I use iA Writer as a simple text editor. I can then copy the text into other applications and format it if I need to. Dropbox makes it very easy to copy things from my desktop to my iPad and vice versa. I use an external bluetooth keyboard if I am going to type anything lengthy.

For me, its much more convenient than having a laptop. I can just flip it open and start working. If I need to do something more complex, I use my Windows 7 desktop and Dropbox the stuff over when I'm finished.
