I beg your pardon, I'm at one of my 3 computer stations looking a 5 computers I currently have operating. LOL After owning a computer store for 5 years and building hundreds of systems i ended up not only with boxes but an entire room full of parts and crap. hahahaah

What I have in mind is something like this:

- Would really like to get an i7 Extreme - 6 Core (i7-980x). But man, that's a $1,000 piece of silicon
- A small SSD to hold the OS (32 or 64 is enough, I think)
- A 10k rpm HD
- 12 GB ram
- Mid-range GPU, since no games will be played in this PC
- USB 3.0
- Other: High-end power supply, lots of cooling, good quality wiring.
That is an ambitious piece. I owned a computer store for 5 years and currently have 5 computers operating.
If you want "bang for your buck" without breaking the bank build an AMD 6 core Black Edition. I like and use Gigabyte or MSI motherboards, very important. The Gigabye features sold state capacitors, most do not. I have a box full of good otherwise motherboards with "blown" capacitors and are now junk. Because AMD and ATI are the same company I use ATI video cards they seem to be more compatible. Use a motheboard that will accept 12 gigs of ram, actually just as important as processor speed especially for editing photo's. A high level CPU cooler is paramount, my new AMD I just built has a "water cooler" CPU cooler and it runs very cool, 30 C. The only problem you may have with a water cooler is they won't fit in a lot of cases, I had to buy a new case just to accomodate the CPU radiator, sure quiet though. Get the highest level Video card that you can afford, they run cooler and steadier, heat is a big factor with video cards, I have an ATI 5770 and it's great. Be very careful about the directional flow of your ventillating fans. I recently had a heating problem with a computer and just by reversing the air flow on the CPU from in to out it lowered the temp. by 20 C. Make sure the fans are not opposing each other.
I will put my AMD 6 core up against any PC and it cost me exactly 1/2 what a i7 6 core would have cost.

I liked it for the little while I had it, unfortunately I have to let these gems go as they belong to someone else. I build high end watercooled computers for others as a hobby, one of the few that actually earns me money instead of sucking my wallet dry.
