Can't imagine why you would want to...

Within the export function of LightRoom you have the option to include (or exclude) the data, and I would imagine the same functionality is available with Bridge... and I would suspect that you can google exif strippers and find several flavors.

I did. All methods convert RAW files to JPEG files. I want RAW to remain RAW.

No, you can't strip EXIF data from the raw data without processing it. Raw files, in theory at least, are read only files. They're nondestructive and any edits are saved in xmp sidecar files as metadata.

I heard about a software which does it. Is this something new?

Why do you want to strip exif data from raw files?

RAW files are binary files. So you have to use a binary file editor, such as HxD or XVI32 to open the file, find the embedded metadata section and then delete it. I don't know whether that will affect the image itself. Search Google to find a suitable binary file editor. There are several free softwares available.

As Gautama points out, you can use a Hex / Binary code editor to edit out blocks of data. However, you need to know where to find the metadata. Unfortunately every camera manufacturer has its own proprietary method of compressing data and many of them also encrypting the data in the file. If the file has been compressed or encrypted you will need to uncompressed and decrypt before you can access the metadata block and subsequently you will need to decompress and re-encrypt the file. There are no programs that can do the latter if the file is Nikon or Canon. Your best approach might be to open the Raw file, export it as a linear raw tiff, then strip the metadata block out and save as a Linear raw tiff.

Why anyone would bother trying to use a binary editor to remove Exif data is beyond me.

And note that neither Canon nor Nikon hide the location of the encrypted metadata, and besides both provide the appropriate algorithms to make decryption easy.

More to the point, exiftool, a free and easy to install program written by Phil Harvey (in Perl, so it works on virtually every platform), will easily remove Exif data from any RAW file.

EVEN MORE TO THE POINT: DON'T DO IT because there simply is no useful purpose in removing Exif data from a RAW file! If you don't want someone to see the Exif data you absolutely do not want them to see the raw sensor data!

I see this thread originated in 2010. Is or was there a purpose in removing the EXIF data from the RAW file?
