I too use FotoMagico (Pro v3), because the control over the fades and KB type motion is very easy to work with. I end up exporting as DV quality and then pull into my Final Cut Pro timeline because it's usually a part of a bigger project. I could use FCP for the entire slideshow thing, but since keyframing is to tedious, it's worth the time saved in FotoMagico to just use that. And it's very powerful, aka 'sophisticated'. That said, cost could be a factor, if you are looking for home slideshows, it may too much of an investment, but if you plan to make any money with them, it's just a cost of doing business.

Keynote isn't a bad choice, but that's not it's primary objective as a software program (it will work for slideshows), where as FM is designed for that type of work.

Hope this helps

Once photography enters your bloodstream, it is like a disease.

Software: Too numerous to list but my most used utility is ShiftN for perspective correction

Gear: Canon G12, no tripod, no lenses, no flash, no remote, no cases or bags!

Your MAC comes with a program called I Movie....you can use video or stills and it is a great program. Then to burn a DVD you can export it to IDVD which also comes with your MAC....Good luck!

Thanks for your help. I have tried iMovie but am trying softmaker10 at the moment. It may be what I need.

Personally, I use and love ProShow Producer by Photodex. It allows complete control over every aspect of slide show presentations. If you want a little less control and less expense, they do provide a second program called ProShow Gold. It does not allow key-framing but does provide for good, overall slide presentations. I have LR but do not use its slideshow functions as it is has had some serious shortcomings in the past. I will stick with PSP.

Keynote files have the advantage of being compatible with Microsoft Powerpoint, if thats a consideration.
