Default G1X 11 or G7X or G16

Hello all,

Happy new year - looking for a bit of guidance

Want a smaller than 7D/5D2 camera that takes raw images and has some creative offerings. Not bothered about video, GPS, upload to facebook or any of that gubbins

Just want a smaller camera, not necessarily pocket size that I can carry around that has fab image quality and shoots raw.

Its a minefield so any help would be much appreciated

Cheers

Rob

Sony A6000 with optical stabilized collapsible kit lens.
Or, if blazing AF is not required, prices are way down
on the Nex-6 with that same lens. It has a number of
"creative offerings", too.

I also have a 5D2 and the Nex is my go-to box. If you
have a 5D2 then after you get you a Sony, sooner of
later you'll wanna put your Canon lenses on it, as it's
just soooo do-able. I happen to use Nikkors on mine
but if you use Canon lenses you also have benefit of
auto-iris if you go with the Metabones adapters. If
you never acquire another Sony-E lens, you'll still be
glad that it's an interchangeable lens camera, due to
the amazing adaptability to other lens systems. And
if you never even remove the kit lens, it's still a far
better buy than the Canon G-series, with a terrific
EVF and more useful features.

Sounds like you want something with a viewfinder. I am still using my Olympus C-5050. Only 5mp but does a decent uncropped 11x14.

I did consider a Canon G1X when they came out, but decided I had other things I would rather spend the money on.

I have a G1X MkII that I carry when I don't want the bulk/weight of my 5D MkII and 5D MkIII and lenses. The G1X MkII with my iPhone 6+ are quite satisfactory.
