The only lens damage visible in the picture is what may be a ding right in the middle and a smaller mark of some kind off to the viewer's left. I see no haze in this lens. This doesn't mean there is none; I just can't see it. Of these defects, the ding in the middle is more likely to affect the image than any other defect this lens may have.

For a very severe test, I would check the lens on a dark backlighted subject with the lens stopped down. If you have trouble spotting the defect in a shot like that, the defect won't show up at all in most shots. I don't see it in any of your test shots.

Sorry to inform you that the Canon compacts do not have separate interchangeable front-lenses: if it has to be replaced, the complete lens-assembly will have to be be replaced.

Costly procedure.

thought so max , i'll put to the test like scoundrel suggested .

i will take it in bright light as well , as soon as i have the time to do so
