Converted raw to jpegs on my camera are about 50MB [in 8 bit ]
but trentchau you are right about not worrying about the price of harddrives
though I also archive raws but purley as a back up as I find they seem to take a long time to open from DVD's [maybe my computer] so I keep raws on the hardrive as well.

The scary thing is that in 5 years time a 22 megapixel camera will be considered low-res.

Highly likely to be true .
But I still won't be surprised if we are still buying 10 or 20 mega pixel high quality cameras and hopefuly at decent prices .

My 1DMkIII produces raw files up to 17.25Mb. That would make the 1Ds files up to about 36Mb. Going to eat up hard drive space and slow down processing. MkIII is enough for me.

I like my mega pixels served with whipped butter and pure maple syrup in the morning.

Sadly, dealing with 22MP images won't be a problem for me anytime soon.

Don't know about that, 4 years ago we had 3.2 gigahertz processors, and now they didn't go up as much. There's just seperate technology like quad processing, and different instructions to do things "Better" or "Faster". For 35mm we might hit a cap sooner or latter for quality to pixel ratio, and all the camera companies will offer different things to appeal to users.

I still want canon to release a camera that writes into PSD files. It analyzes the dof and lines of a pictures and places them in seperate layers. It would be awesome and fun to mess with!

I would like to see more and more cameras to store the files in a univeral/common raw format such as Adobes DNG.
