Canon MK3 images Photo Gallery by Gerard Bonus at pbase.com

MKIIn is ACTN [left] MK3 is QUAL [right]

I have two shots here from a recent race meet. One an MKIIn and one a n MK3.
I was so upset with the MK3 not tracking and focussing wildly that I had to switch back to the MKIIn, which is not without it's own faults.

Leeham not sure what the red area is on the right hand side of the 1st photo but the rest look good
GBee this is really a shame and with all the problems talked about with the focusing issue you would think canon would do the decent thing and automaticaly change your machine for one that dose not have problems
after all I know quite a few people who have said they will leave it atleast 6 months before buying this camera so I wonder how much this issue is really costing canon in $$$$$$$$$$'s
Or could it be that there just making such vast profits they don't care

dc2, The red area on the first photo is a result of a flag on the sideline.
GBee, Not sure sending the camera in for exchange or repair is the answer. Mine has been to Canon for one shot autofocus issue. It was repaired and the new software installed. One shot autofocus is improved, and as accurate as my 20D, or 5D. A1servo is another story. Not sure if it is improved or fine the way it is. I am not a professional, and use the equipment as a hobby.

IMO, they did a Nikon on it, that is bring product to market that was not ready in a bid to steal the thunder, Nikon did it with the D1 ~ later, a leisurely later, Canon offered the incredible 1D.

Canon must have known about the D3 and D300, more advanced than the Canon offering but only if the Nikon technology works, Nikon's record is pathetic here, unfortunately Canon now join them.

I'd recommend everyone to hold off and even try the Nikon, I am not seeing any mind blowing improvements, as a replacement for my 70,000 actuation MKIIn, if it worked as well, it would be fine.

In fact the AF has changed so much, I'm finding it bothersome and not as intuitive, even though one sits at home and plays with it, and says, that's neat, in practice I am finding it more limiting, and my poor wife was crying after a quick job with all her pic OOF, not the camera's fault but she could not get the AF to work as she was used to, so it's not really a team player in mixed company. Can't say if I'll buy a second one or wait for the N and buy two then.

Thanks for looking at the ref photo. Had a family outing in Michigan last week .
I have been experimenting with the 1DMK111 custom func's trying to understand, learn, to use this very complicated camera.
