Default Gimbal Head

I recently received a new Gimbal tripod head from the Camera Cottage, in Montana. It is a Nest Gimbal head. It is made of carbon fiber, with very well machined adjustment knobs and screws. It is very rugged, but also light in weight, and has a 5 year warranty. I use it with my 7D Mark II mounted to a Tamron SP 150-600mm VC lens. I has a long sliding plate, which allows perfect balance. Since it is made of carbon fiber, it is very light, and easy to carry into the field mounted to a Bogen Manfrotto Nord 3011 tripod. Carter, at the Camera Cottage is the U.S. Distributor.

Default Re: Gimbal Head

I second Sub's recommendation. I have been using the Nest gimbal on one of their carbon fiber monopods for several months now and it is everything I could ask for in a gimbal. A feature not mentioned in his review is the safety lock on the mounting plate. If the clamp should come unlocked, the plate is prevented from sliding out of the clamp by a pin that must me retracted to remove the plate from the clamp.
