Default Less weight on me - do you use camera straps around your shoulder? HoldFast?

I am a wedding photographer. After a long day of shooting a wedding I am just so tired of having my cameras on straps around my neck.

I saw some people use camera straps around the shoulder which puts the weight on the shoulder rather than the neck area....

Do you use them? Which one would you recommend? How about HoldFast camera straps?

Thanks so much!

I can highly recommend Blackrapid camera straps. Goes over your shoulder. Very comfortable, and I can carry my camera all day without wearing out my neck or shoulder. I have the Sport Breathe model. http://blackrapid.com/Straps/Sport-Breathe.html

I use a Blackrapid strap, too - sorry, can't recall the model - but it'll carry two cameras when I need them. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I use black rapid also. At the race track I usually have 2 cameras, one on each shoulder. One is a D5100 with a 11-16mm lens, but the other is a d610 with a 50-500mm sigma. If anything would make one tired, it would be that lens. I can go all day long with the black rapid straps.

Holdfast's MoneyMaker certainly looks nicer than the other options, but I'm not sure how effective it is for heavier "professional" cameras with the built-in vertical grips (or medium format DSLRs which are usually massive as well).

I've only ever seen it used with 5D-sized cameras, and one of my friends using it eventually moved to a belt-holster type system instead of keeping it on his shoulders.

I feel like the HoldFast MoneyMaker would be great for smaller cameras without a built-in vertical grip, Leica M bodies, etc. A set of D5 or 1D bodies, maybe not.

I'm not a fan of the belt-holster systems with the little ball that clips into a set of jaws either, because they seem to have a lot of room for user error (seen this a few times on the job).

If you're looking at Black Rapid, also consider Custom SLR: https://customslr.com/collections/camera-straps

They're friends with the Black Rapid guys, and some of the Black Rapid guys have said off-of-the-record that they prefer the Custom SLR product.

Full disclosure, I know one of the guys that works at Custom SLR, but I'm not being paid to shill their products or anything.

I don't use any strap at all anymore. I either hold the camera in my hand or I put into a camera bag. At this point any strap attached to the camera for me is a nuisance.

Since I am an Arca swiss guy I use the BR with an RRS attachment stud. Super secure.
