Default Manfrotto Befree Goes Carbon

Guess Manfrotto needed to make a compact, reverse fold tripod, in carbon. The Befree model seems like a nice one, but not sure the price is so nice. And it only holds a bit less than 9 lbs. Your thoughts?

Me, I like my MeFoto one....

Yeah, the MeFoto seems to be a better overall option, but a lot of people trust Manfrotto and like their stuff.

For years I have stuck with the Monfrotto/Gitzo lines of support equipment. I have quite a collection of big tripods from my large and medium format days but most of it is way overkill for my DSLRs and even some of my digitized medium format gear. I also have a Majestic tripod that can double as a set of barbells. My lightest unit is a 9 year old Gitzo carbon job but I even find it a bit cumbersome for casual and travel usage. My favorite ball head weighs as much as the tripod.

I am impressed with the MeFoto line- at least what I see in the print ads. I really like the colors too- impressive! For the life of me, however, I canít find any specs for the fully extended heights of any of their models. All I can find are the specs for the collapsed/folded lengths! Perhaps I have missed something- anybody know?

The kinda wine colored one matches my favorite necktie! If I buy the tripod, Iíll have to get the tie dry cleaned to get rid of the soup stains!

Yo Ed (and others), the "Specs" for each tripod in their line are in a "Tab" on the web page. Like here is a link to the RoadTrip one (61.6")....

I am heading to the PNW Coastline in about 3 weeks and am looking for a travel tripod, looking at this one as well as the Mefoto, however I had heard from a Youtube video that the Mefoto would NOT be recommended for beach style shoots,, opinions on this matter and would the Manfrotto be any better then the Mefoto in this application ?? any input is greatly appreciated !!
