The CamRanger unit is the same, it's just re-badged.

It does have their software on it which can be updated via a cable to your computer if it is upgraded.

Obviously. Just as Chainfire requires you to install their firmware (free) to use the TPLink with DSLRController.

The remote head is cool, but only if it's something you need. I shoot tethered primarily in a studio environment, so for me it's pretty useless. Of course if you're doing lots of panos it'd be worthwhile.
