I've done both, and I've seen a number of landings (or attempts thereof) where I would have preferred to be under a canopy rather than in the plane. A serviceable aircraft is only half of the equation

Airborne all the way Ed. I was with the 101st before it became Airmobile. I did do a jump about 3 years ago but it probably was my last.
