It's in Central California.

You're about 3,042 miles from the valley floor Frank.

The tentative dates are arrive in the park on Wednesday the 7th and depart on Saturday the 10th.
That gives two full days in the park for sunrise, sunset, waterfalls, hiking, etc.

Edit: But nothing is set in stone yet.

A photograph is like a joke. If you have to explain it, it just isn't that good.

You just cut 2,500 miles off your drive.

It'd be an 8 hour drive to Yosemite from Lost Wages.
Barring no roads are closed from the snow.
But a far cry closer than Miami.

Looking at Google Maps, it's not the mountain passes that you would be traversing, so road closures may not be an issue.

The most snow I've seen in a few years, was on the ground here a couple of weeks ago, and that was a freak of nature for our area of California.

Actually, those roads should all be clear, and you wouldn't even have to have chains for the car.
(Says the guy with a 4WD with all terrain tires, and chains )

Depending on my workload in April I would consider day tripping up as I am only two hours or so from Yosemite. And I am ashamed I don't get there more often. Or to Sequoia which is even closer for me.

Would it be necessary to book campgrounds that time of year?

Flashpoint, the snows should be over for the Yosemite Valley however the Roads over Tonga pass and to Glacier point (both much higher) will most likely still be closed due to snow accumulation.

This is a link to the rout I would recommend;
