Hey Tarheel - I see you posted this a long time ago.
I'm fairly new to this forum and just found this part of the forums.
I'm in Gray, TN which is just north of Johnson City, about an hour from Asheville.

A lot of waterfalls between us. The ones I've been too are Blue Hole, Crabtree, Laurel Fork, Pine Ridge, and Sills Branch. Still more out there than I'll ever get to I suppose.

I wish. I live in Columbia, SC. We made it up there last fall (leafs weren't quite turning yet). Beautiful and many photographic opportunities.

Hello. I am in Asheville. Love shooting waterfalls and hiking ( as well as cycling and running). In the area I think the best I have been to are Triple falls and Hooker falls at Dupont State Forest near Brevard, Soco Falls between Maggie Valley and Cherokee, ( a 100 foot hike down from the road). Also there is a beautiful cascading falls near Old Fort. a easy 1 mile hike in.
