Default Rocky Mountain National Park

As of now I plan to travel by car from here to Chicago (and back) to spend a weekend with my brother there. On the way back I will spend some time in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.

I certainly don't want this to interfere with any planning by member "Canadian Rocky" (http://photocamel.com/forum/camel-me...ocky-mtns.html)!

I don't even have the dates set for my time in Chicago, so this is very preliminary. And, as soon as I have those dates I will update this thread. I can also add some other stops along the way if there are other people/places of interest that are suggested.

So, if you have any interest in meeting just let me know! It is easy for me because I don't have a work schedule to consider.

Ken

Ken,

I camped at RMNP for four days in 2009. My family stayed at Moraine Park Campground. There were NO mosquitos, which was very nice, but it was extremely windy. We were in a travel trailer, so it was not a problem, just a great adventure!

I enjoyed the photographic opportunities at Sprague Lake....my wife enjoyed the easy "hike" there. I also liked the hike to Dream Lake. There was some snow there, and also in the Alpine Tundra ecosystem.

I look forward to seeing your photos upon returning from your trip!

When are you going? That will let us know what might be open. I go to RMNP a couple of times each year and many things are closed in winter. I prefer the west side of the park and stay in Grand Lake. We like the short hike to Adams falls on the west side. In addition, the moose are generally on the west side in the marshes. Best viewing of elk is generally on the east side but that changes.
A good guide to RMNP is not the offical National Park website but one by Karl Snyder who has roamed this park and Mt. Evans for years. His site is Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) - Complete Guide!. Let me know when you will be there and I will see if I can rearrange schedules to meet you.

Be nice to meet with you Mel! I should have my dates for Chicago in a couple of weeks, which will be this summer. I plan to do the Trail Ridge Road (Hwy 34 and 36) and any other spots that would be good. One other person has sent me a PM to join up depending on his schedules too.

We should do that. I'll let you know the dates because I'll get in sooner than my brother.

Hello Ken
I to am interested in meeting up with you. I live near Chicago (Rockford Illinois). I sure would like to do some shooting with you. Maybe I can learn something if you don't charge for the service. I would consider following you back to rmnp and shooting while you have the time.

Rich, it would be good to meet you. My time in Chicago may be limited, although now it seems I'll be adding some time there....and if you want to meet at RMNP that would be fine.

My fees are quite high though: either a can of Diet Dr Pepper, or maybe a slice of pie for dessert is the most I can charge.
