Default just curious as to the value of this package from Mpix

I just uploaded 5-8x10s, 11-5x7s, 2 4x6s and 22 sets of 4 wallets of my daughters, and paid $38 includ shipping. For you business people out there, what would you value this at, a la carte?

I know JCPennies, and Sears have $10 sheets available, but was wondering what you would charge. Thanks, Jess

Is the question, what would you charge for...? Or is it whether $38 is fair? What are $10 sheets?

No, I don't know, that's why I'm asking. I wouldn't know what to charge. I haven't started shooting for others yet, but have been asked by my daughter's friends. $38 is cheap compared to paying a photogragher! I know I spent alot of time editing the pics and uploading them though!

A $10 sheet is an 8x10 sheet, or two 5x7s on a sheet, or ?# of wallets on an 8x10.

It depends, I just quoted $900 for 100 8x10's. If it were onesy-twosey orders, I'd go more per print.

Well, you're right there with $900 at $9/print. I think that's fair. I was just wondering what other's would charge, depending on the location in the country, and their fees.

A "sheet" as referred to by Blunks, Olan Mills, Family Photo and LifeTouch, is an 8x10 sheet of photographic paper.

You can put any number of combinations on a sheet. 1-8x10, or 2-5x7, or 4-4x6, or 8 wallets.

If I may suggest....
Never use the word sheet in your marketing. Client's brains are geared to thinking this is cheap. It's harder to get more money for a cheap product, in the client's mind, regardless of how good the photo is.
Think of it as presentation. The better the presentation, but more money it's worth.

A "unit" is a better word, but we even avoid using that term most of the time.
We only sell A-La-Carte

Do a google search for photographers in your state, and then try and narrow it down to a 50-60 mile radius. Check out there web sites and 50% or more will have there prices. That will give you a start. Another thing you need to do is figure out how much time you spend processing an order and you need to assign a price to that and figure that into either your portrait price or into a creation fee. In my area Ga & Al line an 8x10 runs between $25 - $45. Research your area and go with the average prices at first. Also a good book is by Edward Lilly called the Business of Studio Photography. i addresses pricing and selling

Thanks Kenn, appreciate your input. I'll have to do that, as far as checking into local potographers
