Taking photography a step further

The challenge? Cost control while getting nearly the best. I have been exploring the acquisition of a Tamron 28/300 VC lens for hand carrying in the field, to shoot nature in general. I live in a forest setting and have photographed various activities and objects within it, for example nesting Bald Eagles, migrating hummingbirds or sea birds. I recently had a problem with sand and water infiltrating my Canon 17/85mm lens during a tropical storm. Equipment takes a beating in my line of "work". I write a family of blogs for the forest, government, trees, people, living and a few other topics. Yet the Tamron seems to be the best choice for what I do.
