Drugstore.com spam - Beware

Posted 02-01-2010 at 05:21 PM by JDArt

I keep close track of who gets my e-mail addresses. In fact, I create e-mail addresses specifically to use with particular merchants so that I'll know if one of these merchants is responsible for compromising my privacy.

After making the mistake of purchasing something from drugstore.com, I started getting spam from all sorts of places, lots of pharma-related spam. I strongly suspect that drugstore.com either passed on my e-mail address or sold it to spammers. As a result, I WILL NEVER...

Online storage comes of age

Posted 03-29-2009 at 07:18 PM by JDArt

It’s time for you to get yourself an online storage account. The reasons why are compelling - and they keep piling up.

For starters, it’s wise to have a backup copy of your critical files someplace off-site, and there’s no place more “off site” than on some online storage service’s servers. Also, with the number of mobile, data-driven devices increasing – everything from iPods and iPhones to netbooks – online storage is an ideal way to ensure that your data is always at hand. And finally,...

Scammers are out in full force these days online. They'll try to dupe you by e-mail or through Web sites, and they typically want one of two things: your money or your personal information. Free software on the Internet

Posted 03-29-2008 at 07:44 AM by JDArt

So where are the best places today to find free software? Here's what I think.

--- Freeware Home (http://www.freewarehome.com) is a clearinghouse for a wide variety of free software downloads. Here, you'll find broad categories of software, including business and productivity, desktop applications, educational software, games, graphics, Internet programs, and miscellaneous tools.

You'll also find a handy "new" category, listing all of the new software programs the site...

Specialized search engines

Posted 03-16-2008 at 03:23 PM by JDArt

If your search for information on the Web starts and ends with Google, Yahoo, or MSN, you're missing out. Sure, you can use the big three search engines to find more types of information than ever before, but there are still some specialised search engines that do better with less. Browser tip - Filling out forms

Posted 11-14-2007 at 05:30 PM by JDArt

Filling out forms on a Web site can be a tedious task. You can speed up the chore by using the Tab key to move from field to field rather than using your mouse to click inside of each field before typing. Most forms are set up to allow you to "tab" your way through them in the proper order. Hold down the Shift key and press Tab to move to a previous field.
