Image editing in the cloud

Posted 10-24-2011 at 06:49 PM by JDArt

Image editing in the cloud seems counterintuitive. After all, image editors require some serious horsepower on the desktop, and internet connections would seem to limit the responsiveness. But Picnik proves that cloud-based image editing can be fast, fun, and reasonably powerful.

A tabbed-based interface makes it easy to load, edit, and save photographs. Rotating images, cropping, and resizing are all simple to perform. Even sharpening and red-eye removal are possible. Perhaps best...

Digital camera presets

Posted 09-23-2011 at 08:26 PM by JDArt

Most digital cameras come with presets for taking pictures in specific lighting conditions such as night, portrait, landscape, and macro. Use the presets when lighting conditions are difficult. If a picture is worth a thousand words, what's a moving picture worth? The answer is probably "priceless" when it comes to capturing video of your friends and family. Years down the road, those videos will no doubt become treasured mementos of people and experiences that just can't be captured the same way with still images.

That's where digital camcorders come in. Today you'll find camcorders of every shape and size - ones that fit in the palm of your hand as well as larger units...

Use it or lose it: Keeping your inkjet photo printer happy

Posted 09-22-2007 at 07:18 AM by JDArt

Inkjet photo printers can last for years - or they can cause trouble within months of purchase. When there's trouble, a defective part can sometimes be the culprit. Just as often, though, problems arise because the printers are not maintained properly. As much as we'd all like to set our printers up and forget about them, inkjets are finicky, so knowledge of just how to care for them can go a long way toward helping your printer give you years of beautiful prints.

--- Use it weekly....
