You can speed up the time it take Windows to start by controlling which applications load at startup. Hold down the Windows key and tap the letter "R" to open the Run dialog box. Type "msconfig," without the quotation marks, and press Enter. In the resulting System Configuration dialog box, click the Startup tab, and uncheck any application you can do without.

I cannot get it to come up with Win 7. It seems Windows has tried to make it more difficult with Win 7 than with previous versions and they weren't easy.

Windows 7 is awesome. Windows key + R will work. If it does not, type "msconfig" in the white search area. Then press enter. It should load.
