Default feeding sea gulls

This morning while on the beach I risked the "peril of poop" for my photographer friends who were with me. They wanted some sea gull shots and I knew that if the gulls were fed they would flock around.

We did not have any bread scraps, but we used tiny pieces of a cinnamon raison bagel and a few oyster crackers. I threw them in the air as Joan and Vernon shot. Then I decided to just hold some of the bits in my hand and let the gulls come to me.

Sara, using my camera, got the shot of the three of us, I later got a shot of Joan shooting and the gull photos were shot by Joan. We had lots of fun. They got some great photos and I did not get messed upon! Cheers, Bill P.

Cool. Thanks for sharing. Is that that NC/SC coast? Looks like a great time.

Good things the seagulls don't have legs like the bald eagles posted here.

Yes, Tanden, we were at Pawleys Isand, SC which is just south of Myrtle Beach. It was a great week. We returned to a 2" snow yesterday afternoon!!!

I was lucky I did not get messed on and also lucky that they did not bite my hand when the took the food from it. I did feel a peck as they got the food. It was a fun time!
Cheers, Bill P.

Bill, what great interaction shots, I have never seen gulls quite so dare devil - but food is a marvellous tamer isn't it! What strikes me is that your seagulls are distinctively different to those that patrol our shores.
