Default Rusty Blackbird and others

We spent a couple of half days out and about. Here are some of the shots:

1. We saw Pied-billed Grebes several times. A reclusive sort that's just a blast to watch with its happy go-lucky attitude.
2. Coots in a fall sort of background at one of the local swamps
3. Able to watch this Kingfisher hunt but not able to get close
4,5 Rose-breasted Grosbeak hiding in the weeds just out the car window. (M & F)

1. I lost a hundred shots of warblers because the mode dial was on M (A is where I like it - dumb move of the day!)
This catbird was the only shot I was able to rescue
2. A scruffy Crow in the sand
3. Swallows resting on a tree across the pond
4. Black capped Chickadee
5,6 And my finale - the Rusty Blackbird appeard for a few seconds in a tree in front of me while in search of warblers. Only the second time Ive seen this one.

Thanks for looking

Hi Gil, good series and really nice selection of bird species. Except for the Coot and maybe the Warbler you called Vireo which looks like a Chiffchaff, would be lifers for me, so an interesting collection that you managed.

A great selection of birds Gill. Like the rusty blackbird and the catbird. As John said, most would be lifers for me but there again most of the birds I see would probably be lifers for you ;>)

I always consider my birding trips the highlight of the week. Not sure about the id of the ones I called a vireo and sort of gave up on it. (for a variety of reasons) My wife helped with the id of the warbler. Thanks as always for your comments and observations!
