Default Kingfisher

Went to Adel Dam nature reserve early in the morning as I'd heard the local kingfishers were showing fairly well. I was taking shots of the heron that also frequents the area when I noticed the kingfisher just above the heron on a dead branch

This is the normal view I get of kingfishers and it soon disappeared further down the lake. A short while later I was looking at a branch that was just in front of the hide and much to my surprise the kingfisher landed on it. I managed to get 2 shots before she shot off again. This shot hasn't been cropped so the bird totally filled the frame. I was shooting with the 500L and x1.4 extender handheld. The light was reasonably poor so the camera settings were 1/160sec, f5.6 and iso 800. Still, my best common kingfisher shot to date

C&C welcome, exif intact.

Beautifully taken, the wide and the tight shot.

I have seen a very similar if not identical species here, Kevin but none have ever come within range of my limited focal length of 400mm (35mm equiv).
