Default Surprise Bald Eagle

My dad and I went out shooting and though had some good sightings, photography wise the day was almost a bust. We were about to leave Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge when my father wanted to stop and shoot some Mallards.. I quickly told him that there was no chance that they would stick around for any kind of shot and probably would fly away. Insisting we go to the local park if he wanted to take pics of ducks.. I almost had to laugh, for as soon as we stepped out of the car, the ducks started taking off... well it wasn't necessarily because of us.. two Bald Eagles decided to buzz the area!!

They neat thing was that the wind was blowing pretty strong off the Chesapeake Bay, so one almost hovered as it tried to land on a near-by utility pole

Then when it landed.. it made sure to let us know that it was his spot!

Unfortunately though, the clouds were heavy and the sky grey.. Sun only started to peek out for a moment, but wasnt quite enough for these shots... but both my father and I got some decent shots from it

Great series, Bill! The first one is a stellar capture, but my fav is the third one. Amazing detail in the feathers. K to ya.

Very nice Bill. The clarity is excellent. I'd consider cropping up past the bolt on the 3rd one.

AWESOME shots with #3 being my favorite. Cloning out the bolt would be pretty easy using Photoshop.

Fantastic shots Bill. 1st and 3rd shots are stunning. Agree about cropping the bolt and I would also consider upping the vibrance and saturation on both. Definitely worth some K.

Outstanding. I can't pick a fav. I don't know if I'd clone out the bolt, but it looks like there's a little bird poo or something on the top-right corner of the post; I'd clone that out.
