Default I am beginning to enjoy shooting from the car!

Each week I try and take a drive around my area - with a tempurpedic pillow hanging out the car window, which I use as a lens support. I have discovered one road which literally marks the meeting of the desert scrub and some agricultural land - the variety of birds I see here is astounding. What is even better is that this 2 1/2 mile road is a dead end and is never used! So I can spend an hour driving at 2 mph on the wrong side of the road to get close to hedges, or the canal bank, or the fields. I just meander my way along the road and back again.
This past week I managed to get out there twice (it is only about 5 miles away) and here are some of the results:

1) & 2) - Red-tailed Hawk
3) Western Meadowlark
4) Killdeer
5) Gambel's Quail
6) White-crowned Sparrow (Juv)

Stunning Alex, hard to pick a favourite but the meadowlark deserves a bucket full of K on its own. Only critism is there's a halo around the last shot that could be removed to improve the shot.

Thanks for the feedback Kevin - I need to watch those halos, they tend to creep in when I am not concentrating! I was more concerned with the framing for that composition - that'll teach me!!
Thanks for the kind words about the Meadowlark... total fluke, he landed right next to me and stayed long enough for me to get 2 shots off. I was very pleased with that shot!

Hi Alex, It's great that you have discovered the local birding area, right on your doorstep. Wow I hope we see a lot more from you.
I do agree with Kevin, a really excellent series but the Meadowlark is something really very special. (Please post it at IBC I'm sure it will make the high ranking list)
A truly deserved K to you .
BTW if you are going to do a lot of photography from your car, I recommend that you get a bean bag, see my avatar, I use mine also on the ground, but mostly hanging over my vehicle window.

Great set Alex and I don't think I have ever seen a sharper shot than #3, (Near cut myself looking at it ), As for your new place, it seems like it is going to be very productive for you, and thank you for the inspiration I have now planned a driving trip this weekend to see what I may find around my local area. tar for that.

These are super shots! You're doing this with a 420mm lens?
