Very nice portrait jj. hope you don't mind but you said editing was ok. It was a little dark so I did a levels adjustment, USM at 100/0.2/0 and dodged the eye a little. Will remove if you don't like it

Kevin, special thanks to you for taking time to edit the image, I like the results. I love getting feedback on the shots I post, best way to learn.

I use Gimp to do some basic PP. I think I know what you did with the levels and USM but not sure how you dodged the eye.

You're welcome. Dodging is where you use a brush to selectively lighten an area. As a matter of interest the opposite is Burn where you use a brush to selectively darken an area. Not sure if the option is in GIMP. So I went over the eye and lightened it by about 25%
