Default Rose Breasted Grosbeak?

I'm hoping to get a confirmation on the ID on this bird. I believe it to be a male Rose Breasted Grosbeak. I've never seen one in this area, hence my hesitation. I'm hoping that he'll be back tomorrow for another photo-op. I'd give my left n.. to get a shot of it in flight.

This is a fairly large bird, roughly the size of a Cardinal with a white back and large white patches on the wings (in flight) as well as the tail outlined in white.

Sorry for the poor quality.... combination of jitters, rain, low light...

Yes sir Dew.. Looks like you captured a male Rose-Breasted Grosbeak. Have never seen on myself, but are know to be here on the east coast so would venture to say Ohio not a stretch.. Nice catch and good luck with the in-flight

Thanks Bill! I had just returned from a 6hr road trip and looked out to spot it. Couldn't really tell what I was seeing until I transferred the image to the PC, then it took several passes through my Birds of North America. It's really magnificent in flight... quite striking.

Thanks Tommy! This was my first sighting of this species ever and I've been watching more years than I care to count! Needless to say I was a tad excited!

Very cool, Dew. I've never seen one myself. It's always exciting to spot a new visitor. Hopefully there will be many returns from him.

Thanks Tom! I was like a 5 year old that just discovered that Santa had visited. I'm hoping to see a lot more of him and hopefully a mate.
