Default Before and After

bill_w asked what my workflow was and if I could post a before and after on the thread http://photocamel.com/forum/birds/103047-mistle-thrush-today.html
So here it is
Image 1.
Original raw from the camera, converted to jpg, resized to 1000 x 667
Image 2.
Cropped in LR, exposure increase to +0.57, recovery +23 and fill light +12 all done. Resized to 1000 x 667
Image 3.
Copied the file from LR to PSCS4 without resizing
Selected the Dodge tool with a soft brush at 20% and went over the eye/eyes to brighten them up.
Ran neat image on the file to remove noise.
Made a curves adjustment layer and set points input 10 output 0 at the bottom of the curve and input 245 output 255 at the top of the curve. Set blending mode to colour
Made a 2nd curves adjustment layer with an S curve to taste and changed the blending mode to luminosity.
Flattened the image.
Resized the image to 1667 pixels on the long side and restrained proportions
Unsharp mask 300, 0.6, 0
Duplicate the layer
Unsharp mask 200, 0.4, 0 The image will look completely wrong and very oversharpened but donít worry.
Set the opacity of the top layer that has been sharpened twice to 60%
Resized the image to 1000 pixels on the long side and restrained proportions
Smart sharpen 80, 0.2, 0 remove gausian blur selected
Flatten image
Save as and change the quality so that the size is acceptable to photocamel
Image 4. Reran the image from 3 through neatimage again.

Iím sorry if this is long winded or if Iím telling you things you already know, but it might help someone. Any comments please post them as Iím always willing to try different things. I also have this as an action so it takes less than 30 seconds.
Kevin

Thank you so much Kevin... Was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Still being new, I always have to wonder what can and can't be done with PP. Though I'm completely unfamiliar with PS, I now have a better understanding of the workflow involved to get to the finished results.

I would like to keep this an open thread, and if anyone would like to contribute, please post your before/afters with a workflow summary. I think it would GREATLY benefit us just starting and maybe even have a few pointers for the slightly more "seasoned" photogs...

Thanks again Kevin.. Have some well deserved K!
