I like your shots!!!!
There is no right way or wrong way......just your way.....and it is fine.
There are a lot of techniques you can learn to do it differently.
I learned to set up on a tripod as close as I can get ( a couple hundered feet)
Using a wide lens 28mm or so without telephoto and start shooting at f8.0 if i have it and leave open for 2 or 4 seconds. Sometimes I use the HAT trick to open the stutter and leave it open for several minutes and cover the lense with a hat until more fireworks are shot into the air and wait for the next shot with the lens covered and flip the hat off again. This gives a lot of fireworks in one shot without having to combine several shots which is doable also.
Enjoy and take lots of them and share
I have some fireworks here if you would like to see them.

The spheres are cool.
I wish I was geeky enough to name that phenomenon, aberration, behavior... whatever.
Pretty interesting effect regardless. Thanks.

The effect is great for this shot but not for general photography. The effect is partly the result of a misaligned lens, I'm afraid.

not mis-aligned... out of focus and over exposed. I had just gotten that camera and didn't really know how to operate it, but I do now. LOL
