sorry for my skepticism or maybe it's lack of PS knowledge but I must ask why are parts of the day image removed in the night image (van, bench, pole/wires)and how did you light up inside the rooms?

Many thanks to all...really appreciated...

For Kiki D...I do a lot of DTN conversions for fun and it seemed sensible to remove the distractions, such as the can, poles etc....could have left them in but better to remove them.

Just carefully cloned them all out.

For the DTN and lighting I do the following.

CREATE NEW BLANK LAYER ABOVE IMAGE
FILL WITH BLACK
REDUCE PACITY TO ABPOUT 60%
CREATE NEW LAYER ABOVE AND SET TO VIVID LIGHT MODE
CHOSE LIGHTING COLOUR (USUALLY AN ORANGY YELLOW TRY R202 G183 B55
THEN SELECT WINDOWS AND AREAS TO BE LIT WITH PEN TOOL
USE SOFT BRUSH TO APPLY COLOUR AS ABOVE AT ABOUT 45% OPACITY
CREATE NEW BLANK LAYER ABOVE AND ADD OTHER COLOUR IF REQUIRED
CREATE NEW LAYER ABOVE AND USE SOFT BRUSH TO ADD LIGHT CASTS TO AREA AT LOW OPACITY

WHEN YOU HAVE DONE THIS YOU CAN THEN ADJUST THE OPACITY OF EACH LAYER AS WELL AS THE BLACK TO GET THE BLEND YOU WANT.

Here is a selection where I have taken someone's house, shot in the daytime, dropped it into another image (usually a T Kincade) and then created a DTN christmas scene as above but also using painting with light.

The bulk of my work is here if you are interested.

Thanks for asking and I hope the above helps.

Best wishes
Ray..

I was wondering what a T Kincade is and also what is a DTN Christmas scene? Thanks
