NICE NICE NICE!!!!!

You did a great job and knew when to quit. That seems to be the hardest thing for many who are learning to retouch is to know when to put it down. The skin still has a lovely texture and looks realistic. Ive seen so many examples where the image becomes very doll-like. i think you did an excellent job keeping her human!

Very good!

Just for kicks, I downloaded the largest image from Flickr - then superimposed the two images on different layers so I could A/B one on top of the other. Looking up close, it looks pretty much perfect to me. She has nice skin to begin with and you totally preserved the natural texture of her skin. For those who haven't looked that close, It isn't a matched or similar texture - it is unchanged in the already-good areas - and perfectly duplicated where retouching was done.

I haven't done a lot of skin work, but what I can pull off pales in comparison to this shot. Would love it if you would share some of your technique - and would totally understand if you want to keep it your own.

-edit-
DOH! I didn't realize you were linking to two different images - I just duplicated your rollover shot on Devianart.

Thanks. Not sure I understand what you meant in your "-edit-" comment.

Besides healing and cloning. Dodging and Burning at pixel level. This is part of the retouch process to help the skin look cleaner, fresher, and smoother.

Don't worry about my EDIT comment - you had already provided what I created - I just was skimming over things too quick and missed the DevianART link.

As far as the retouching, I went back and looked at what I've done and realized most of my trouble comes from working on faces that have a LOT more to hide than this shot. After I posted, I took your before shot and, as you said, healing and cloning made quick work of most of it. The young women I've worked on didn't have much smooth skin to start with, so I used more drastic measures that simply aren't needed here. Not trivializing your work here - it looks fantastic.
