Interesting how you have used the barrel distortion in your lens (or stitching program) to accentuate the arch - i think the original structure has a slightly arched ceiling. Not clear to me whether there is a depression in the walkway beyond the railing or not, but I think there is a slight rise in the floor in the area between the large entrances at either extreme end of the image.

Actually, as you suspect, there wasn't much of an arch there. The title refers to being directly under the Gateway arch. Here's a shot looking into the windows from outside:


You are correct, there are two ramps up to ground level.
