doesn't really matter, but 50mm is a classic from old times.

My vote (and what I'll be doing) is to simply divide 50mm by your crop factor (1.5 or 1.6 for the Canikon APS-C crowd, or 2.0 for us Olympians), and set your zoom to that value. This will have us all shooting with approximately the same angle of view as a 50mm lens on a "classic" 35mm SLR.

I think I'll also put my OM 50mm 1.4 lens on my OM-10, and shoot a roll of Fuji Pro 160S.

Lori, if I had a 50mm prime I'd shoot with that. Since I don't, I figured I might as well shoot my zoom at the equivalent for my cropped sensor.

I've been thinking about this thread the past few days. We'll see what tomorrow (10/31) brings.

Ok now do we have to shoot 36 or do we have the other film options of 12 and 24. Then put them on a contact sheet. Just so I`m clear on this also no deleting and minor tweaks in a photo program. I know it will be difficult to want to look at the lcd. Good challenge Rense...

Wow this was quite a memory recall! I haven't had to do that in over 20 years.
Below are the snapshots of the morning half of my day here in Chicago. I tried to include a variety of challenges and you can see clearly where I failed to meet them.

I used the 50mm 1.8 on my 40D. The focusing ring on this lens is not the easiest to maneuver, and that's my excuse for the soft focus on the moving shots.

Thank goodness for the automatic Contact Sheet tool in PS. It would take me days otherwise to put this together. There are only 35 frames exposed instead of 36. I was overzealous in my film loading and lost an unexposed frame.

Well, enough babbling. Here it is...follow by my two top picks. Those two had some minor exposure adjustment and nothing else.

Rense - What a fantastic idea to get our gears going. Thank you....for the assignment.

This was fun. I didn't realize how ingrained the habit of chimping is for me. Even though I had the display turned off, I looked at the lcd after every shot!

Here is my contact sheet:
