On an unmodified camera however, the exposure difference is somewhere between 6EV and 14EV depending on the effectiveness of the IR cutoff filter normally located on the sensor.
That addressed my last uncertainty. Thanks. I have looked at the 720 filters. They seemed almost opaque so I couldn't see how using conventional exposures would work unless there is something going on I can't see.

Will AE work using those 720's or is a manual guess and bracket needed?

On an unmodified camera, you will need to work in manual exposure mode and try.

I am using a modified camera, the auto exposure does work, but I need to set an exposure compensation between -0.7EV and +2EV depending on the amount of green within the frame. With a bit of experience, you will know quite well how much you do need to compensate.

Sorry I missed these shots when you first posted them; they are astonishingly beautiful.

I guess I have no excuses now. I either need to get a 720 filter or shut up.

Thanks for your invaluable information.

Since we last spoke, I have been up to Montreux - Gorgeous! I think I will have a wander around your website again to pick another location. If the fog would just lift - it's been so grey down here (Genève end of the lake) lately.

Very good images. You have caught the beauty well with the IR something that is often difficult to do without it looking to unnatural. These are great
