Default My little town.

I live in a small town.
"How small is it?" you ask?
It's so small, that our one horse isn't even a full size horse.

Okay, just kidding around. There is a large developer that lives here.
He bought a hill and basically put up a mansion.

He has all kinds of odd animals roaming the grounds, pretty much to keep the weeds under control. That horse is one of them.
Here's one of the many Emu's

Seriously, it IS a small town.
Our downtown is only three blocks long.

There is one mainstay business that's been here since I moved to California in 1977. I think they started in '74.
Skipolini's Pizza.
Every Wednesday evening, they have a little car show downtown for classic cars.
7 shot handheld pano.

Oh, and they make a great pizza pie too!

A photograph is like a joke. If you have to explain it, it just isn't that good.

Oh, that developer? Albert Seeno Jr. of Seeno Homes.
Also of The Peppermill Casino in Reno and Las Vegas Nevada.

Some nice glimpses of your town, Alan. Is it the one in the background of that mansion?

Thanks Tom.
Part of what you see behind it is. The rest of what's behind it is the City of Concord.

I live in an older part of town. My house was built in the '60's. There is a huge development that was built in the '70's and then even in the late '80's.
It's a nice little bedroom community. In fact, we don't even have a gas station in town.
We have to leave, just to buy gas.
There was an empty lot in town, and the council was trying to find a business to move in that would also generate some tax dollars.
They were looking at a gas station/mini mart/car wash. We The People voted it down.
It just didn't fit with the small town feel we wanted to keep.
Also, it was right next door to an assisted living facility for elderly folks. Too much noise and traffic.
So now there's a CVS Pharmacy on that lot.

I'm assuming you live in Clayton?
I was through there not long ago, on my way to Mt. Diablo.
Nice area, for sure.

Jeff, you are correct. I live in Clayton.
While I was on the hill shooting the Seeno place, had I turned to my left about 100 degrees, I would have been looking straight at Mt. Diablo.
In fact, I did shoot it. But it was the wrong time of the day. It was all shadows in the morning.
From that aspect, a nice sunset shot would work better. But I'm too lazy to climb that hill again.

Did you stop at Skips for some pizza?

Thanks.

This would have been a dead giveaway (not that I was trying to hide anything) of where I live.

The police have gotten into the habit of leaving patrol cars all around town.
About 5% of the time, they will have an officer in them with a radar gun.
The other 95% of the time, they are empty like this one was.

Not sure if they are trying to get people to slow down, or give them a false sense of security and get us to feel like we can speed even if we DO see a cop car.
Then they can hand out tickets like candy.

Thanks Ken.
Both my wife and I grew up in this neck of the woods.
We both went to (and graduated from) Clayton Valley High School, and our daughter will go there in another few years (my how time flies).

My best friend (and the best man at my wedding) now lives in Stockton. In fact he owns a Speedee Lube Oil Change place on Hammer Ln.
