Default The dreadful self-reference of facades

Attempt at capturing the low feeling of walking by ugly facades (in Berlin) every day.

As always, happy about your comments & critique.

Cool title, but the image goes beyond me.

Of this one? Not really. I posted another facade I did not like earlier: Grün Rot Blau Neubau - Kamerahelden

Thanx. Still not finding that it communicates the feeling
you indicate that these are expressing, but I do find the
linked image much easier on my eyes, and rather more
interesting to give a lingering look, as compared to the
image in the OP of this thread.

I'm left wondering why you avoid more straightforward
imagery to show the rest of us non-Berliners what is so
visually miserable or depressing about theses facades ?

I simply feel it would not communicate the same thing. If I photographed a small, nicely framed detail with a few flowers you might like, it would most likely not be seen as the constantly recurring theme, which I tried to captured here. These are multiple windows and flower boxes, all looking about the same, to form a single image.

I agree that the image is not "easy on the eyes", as I wanted it to convey the strain that can be felt by walking past the originals so often and the idea of (boring) "sameness". I originally took the image inspired by a contest with the topic "things in common", where it received so much negative feedback that I replaced it in the end. I have to add that the plants are very common here and not liked by me and my family.

There are also some very nice details of those facades, especially in the right light, which I think I might have good images of. Those are still waiting to be copied and edited though. Unfortunately, those are not on eye-level though, so are hardly ever seen.
