This abstract pattern in the trunk of a tree attracted my attention as I was treading in the park.

Very nice pattern, well captured.

The partial desaturation looks a bit weird to me, though.

It's the natural color. No desaturation has been applied.

I thought that might be the case, but it seemed just such a remote possibility.

I've never seen a tree trunk look so black and white in nature (not even birch), it looks almost like char coal?! The distribution of reds also seems so surreal.

As I said, really cool picture, even more so if the desaturation was done by mother nature.
