We usually have at least one trip to the Rockies every year - would love to take a look for those feral horses in the Sundre area. Interesting that you also have a 4Runner. My 2000 4Runner is the best car I have ever had. Even better than the 1989 one I previously drove.
This sounds like Karma - both of us with 4Runners - .

Mine is a grey, 2015 Trail/Sports edition and I just love it. I have had it modified with a Shrockworks bumper, a SuperWinch Talon 9.5 (9500 lbs capacity), a full length Bud Built Skid plate and Bud Built Rock Sliders installed. I also had the air breather units brought up from their position on the transmission cases and placed on the firewall. That way no water gets in them from river (lake? - no snorkel installed - yet) crossings. To support all this, I had the suspension upgraded with a Fox installation (have all the details if you want it). I just love the suspension - works very well on the extremely rough gravel side roads and together with the KDSS suspension unit, runs like a charm. It also gave me a 2.5" lift on the chassis - was worried it wouldn't fit in the garage when I got it home, but it made it under the door with about an inch to spare .

I didn't add any extra lights to it (yet), but I am contemplating a light bar on the top of the bumper - maybe next year - I am hoping to get out for some sunset photographs in the mountains and I am sure it would help coming back in the dark.

My base unit (prior to upgrades) is very much like the new 2017 TRD model they have finally brought out in Canada, except it has 33 inch wheels (mine are 31", OD measurement) and a Bilsen suspension.

Maybe the next time you are this way, we can compare notes and look for feral horses - no promises on finding them, though.

Interesting stuff WG.
Mine is also silver / grey but I not made any modifications such as winches or aftermarket bumpers. Still has the stock wheels too.
It is still in stock condition.

If you can keep the rust off these 4Runners, they just keep going and going and going. I never realized how many there were on the road until I bought mine and then you start to notice them everywhere. They are are, by the reviews I have read, one of the best "off-road" 4x4s on the road, unless, of course you can spring for a UniMoog - OVERVIEW - KIRAVAN.

I agree about the rust.
My rear bumper has quite a bit of it. May replace that bumper soon.

Week 21 - Ghost River Valley in the Foothills of the Alberta Rockies

Ghost River in Spring runoff with the Devil's Head Mountain in the background. This mountain can be sen from City and stands out as a black "thumb" against the sky.

The debris on the river flats is mostly the result of the 2013 flood.

Image was taken with my Canon 5D IV and a 24-105mm L IS II lens. Processing was done in Lightroom CC.

As usual, comments and questions are welcome.

Week 22 - Yellow-headed Blackbird in IR

Something different for this week. Most of my IR photography involves landscapes with clouds, and flowers. This week I thought I would try something else - birds. The chosen bird this week is a Yellow-headed Blackbird. They are quite common this time of year in the marshes and sloughs of southern Alberta.

This image was shot with my 590nm 5D III and a 100-400mm L IS II lens. Processing was in Lightroom and Photoshop CC.

As usual, comments and questions are welcome.
