Thanks, and how exciting about the eagle. Looking forward to the photos of it that I expect you will be taking when you get settled in. I have been told that eagles have been spotted on my creek, but since I don't go down there on a regular basis will probably never be able to confirm that.

Love the shots you have so far, Martha! Beautiful series on the eagle, and you are the only person I've seen so far that even can make snow look good!
Your bird shots are top notch and a real pleasure to look at. Especially enjoyed the purple finch.
Looking forward to seeing many more of your artistic shots!

Week 10 (March 12 - March 18, 2015)

Almost caught up. Otis and I went on a walk through the woods down to the creek last week. He was on the lookout for small furry critters to chase and I was looking for early spring wildflowers. All the photos are of those wildflowers except for the 1st one which is a crocus from my garden and the 2nd one which is a wildflower but with something extra.

Great flowers. You are a bit further along in spring. Snow is forecast for Saturday again. It was 74 the other day so it will not amount to much.

Thanks. We seem to be on a roller coaster here weatherwise. Near 80 one day, below freezing the next, but the flowers have seemed to survive the freezing with more and more popping up everyday.

Week 10 (March 19 - March 25, 2015) Part 1 of 3

My old desktop monitor has died, so I am now using a new inexpensive one. It is quite bright. Some images seem very saturated, so I really don't have a very good idea of how my edited photos are turning out, but they appear OK on my old laptop. I bought the inexpensive one to tide me over until I can spring for a new desktop with a good photo editing monitor.

We had some very nice weather here on Week 10. Took some more wildflower photos and some early garden flowers. Then I went to check out the egret/heron rookery to see if it had moved from the island where the trees had finally died. It had indeed, although, a few birds are still nesting at the old site and the cormorants love perching there. Fortunately the new site is a little closer, but still quite a distance away. It is in the James D. Martin Wildlife Park, a wetland reserve that is part of the Coosa River watershed. It is a Gadsden, Alabama city park that borders the Gadsden Mall on one side, a highway on another, and residential areas on the other two. It is one of my favorite places to walk. The rookery is on the side adjacent to the mall - very easy to get to. I just drive up to the parking lot which borders the water, get out and shoot, so fair warning, this 52 will probably have a lot of shoots taken from there in the next couple of weeks. In addition to checking out the rookery, I also went walking in the park to see what I could see. Naturally I took tons of photos so I am posting them in three parts.

Some new wildflowers that have begun to bloom in the woods:
