I decided when I move I will set up a bird location so I can shoot them from the back yard. It will be fun to set up and I have lots of water with an 8 acre pond and 40 acres of trees and grassland.

Sounds like it will be a great place. I just have feeders in my garden about 20 to 30 feet from my patio doors, so just sit in the comfort of my kitchen and shoot out the window, although sometimes I can open the door and the birds won't fly away so I shoot that way. I live on 28 wooded acres with about 1000 feet of stream frontage on two creeks, but I can't see them from the house.

Thanks, Wolf
I was sort of buried for a day, but knew it would be all gone within two days. That's the great thing about snow here. On rare occasions we get to enjoy it but don't have to suffer through it for very long.

Week 9 (February 26 - March 4, 2015)

I have managed to get several weeks behind so am playing catch-up. When I left off with week 8, the snow was falling. By the next morning 10 inches had fallen transforming the area into a winter wonderland. Fortunately, unlike in the north, within two days the snow was all gone.

So very likely this will be the last snow posting you will get from me. After taking some early morning photos, the next thing I did was make a snowman (hard to take the child out of this old lady). The biggest I have made since moving south over 25 years ago (could have made it bigger, but I didn't want to have to do any heavy lifting.) Of course, then I had to set up a tripod and take a selfie.

An awesome set of wintry snow shots Martha.
Looks like Otis is enjoying the snow immensely.
Nice selfie with snowman.

Week 10 (March 5 - March 11, 2015)

Still catching up, but will most likely fall farther behind because my desktop monitor is dying. A good impetus to replace it with one more suitable for photo editing and my ancient desktop with something more modern. But choosing what I want and getting it will probably take a couple of weeks, if not more.

Anyway this week, it's all birds. Among them are some decent brown thrasher images - something I have been trying to get for a couple of years. While they seem to be more fearless in urban settings, here in the woods, they spook easily.

I have posted the whole set in the bird forum, but have included a couple here, also. Plus some other birds I caught during the week.

Since the weather had greatly improved, I went to visit the eagle nest, hoping to see the babies. Would have loved to also have seen a parent interacting with one. One eventually flew by and perched in a nearby pine tree out of sight. It was there for over an hour. Since I had already been watching the nest for a couple of hours before that and the sky had become overcast, I finally gave up and went home.

The nest was so high and far away that with my meager gear, the images are not ideal, but I consider myself very lucky to have managed to even get any shots at all.

A very nice and diverse set of bird captures Martha.
Love the BIF shots.
Hope your monitor lasts a bit longer.

Very nice set. My kids said there was an eagle at the pond where we are building yesterday fishing.

Thanks, Wolf

I have decided to buy an inexpensive monitor to tide me over until I can get A new descktop system because I realized I would need a monitor for my hopefully soon to be old desktop, anyway. Will probably go shopping for it today.
