7.4.2011

I went to Wicken fen nature reserve today.
The weather was very pleasent when I arrived.

A fenland boat house.

Being a tad marshy some of the paths are boardwalks.

Amongst many other creatures a greater spotted woodpecker showed up in a treetop.

And a squirrel.

It clouded over and the light was too bad for bird photography. This house was near the reserve.

11 people used to live in the right hand part of the white house. The bit with the orange roof was another house with a seperate family. The tool shed on the right had more room than both of the houses put together.

I had a look in here, a working corn windmill built in 1813, run by volunteers now.

Here's a snap shot of the miller, I asked if he minded being photographed, and he struck up this pose, not really what I meant, more him in the progress of his work kind of stuff

I went to Ely today, a photo of the cathedral.

Ely used to be called the Isle of eels, they even have a statue of an eel in the park.

Lots of people living on boats on the river.

Solar panels and logs.

And the ice cream van.

Strange all my photos are showing a tad desaturated. They look very dull compared to the originals.

Thank you Miranda, for your very encourageing comments

I've spent all day finding out why my photos were desaturated. I eventually found the problem and ran through all my latest photos redoing them, and reposting them in photobucket. So all the above stuff is at least the right colours now

Not much time to photograph anything so here's a couple from the garden again.

The apple blossoms first flower to open, an insect's already taken up up residence.

Golfinch looking dapper for the camera.

Thanks Brian for the encouragement

I went to Anglesey Abbey today. The gardens are beautiful.

Van Gogh stole my camera.

The Abbey was built in 1236, and remained a religous site for 400 years, till Henry VIII put his boot in, from then it's been a private dwelling.

600 sheep were sold to pay for the consruction costs

A detail on the front, St George slaying the poor old Dragon.

Time goes by so slowly........
