I'm not fond of spiders but I love that shot! I have a bunch of prints of bugs (prints like block prints and etchings - genuine original prints) and this would fit right in! Think it would bother anyone hanging on my dining room wall?

One from today:

Picked

Maija (my 3 year old daughter) loves picking dandelions! This is her latest bouquet, shot on the kitchen table. I used my 85/1.8 at f/8 (probably my sharpest lens), with a 12mm macro extension tube to allow me to focus a bit closer than normal. Tripod, ISO 100, 2 second exposure with remote mirror lockup.

Minimal PP, just tone curve and local contrast adjustment, plus of course the B&W conversion.

(Cross posted in B&W forum)

Cheers

Excellent shots. Even though I hate spiders, that spider shot is awesomely freaky and well done.

Some updates since the last posting:

Blue Rock Creek Falls
A quick jaunt up Blue Rock Creek showed this set of small falls. The water has worn the rocks smooth, into almost a waterslide-esque shape. To get this shot I had to stand on the slippery rocks, with the tripod on an angle leaning well out over the water. The Tokina 12-24/4 delivered the goods yet again.

Great Grey Owl
On the way home from camping I spotted this owl on a fence post. It was gracious enough to pose for a good number of shots; this is my favourite.

Pika
The Pika is a small rodent which lives in and around skree slopes in the mountains. This one is just above Running Rain lake in Kananaskis. Although scared of me at first, after sitting still for a few minutes they will come up pretty close. This was shot at about 2.5m.

Milky Way
Astrophotography with a wide angle lens is fun! This shot of our own Milky Way galaxy was shot with my 12-24 at 12mm; even that was too long to get the full effect! An 8mm or fisheye would give some amazing views.

Dragonfly
A portrait of a Dragonfly resting on a barbed wire fence. Shot with the 300/4 with 56mm of stacked macro tubes.
