Tracy, I went and had a look, I've never tried to do it, but to me it doesn't really work with that particular photo.
I think it would work with something different, but not really experienced enough to point you in the right direction.

Also, someone else could come along and say it is wonderful.

Someone on the HDR forum has posted two scenes in Paris, both textured - one worked and the other didn't.

Thanks, Bambers. I chose that photo specifically for a couple of reasons. One is that it has a lot of empty space and generally the textured photos I've liked have been like that; the other is that I love the bones of the photo but it was taken mid-day in the sun and it shows. I figured adding texture (or something) might distract from the lighting but leave the scene intact.

I appreciate the help in figuring this this out. That scene in Paris is wonderful - thank you for mentioning it.

I can't help much, Tracy. I did look, but I don't think that texture works with the picture. It...I don't know, looks strange to me...? Almost like the texture is too flat?

Too flat? Hmmm... I'm not sure I get what you mean, but thanks for having a look. I'll see if I can figure out what you see.

I went with this texture rather than a more gritty one after some of my friends on FB thought it needed to be softer.

...it looks flat. Like, there isn't enough 'texture' there maybe...? I don't know what I'm trying to say, but it doesn't look like a 'texture' to me... :/
