review of the Sony DSC-H55, a 14.1MP resolution (1/2.3-in. Super HAD CCD Sensor) ultra zoom digital camera with 10x ultra wide-angle optical zoom (25-250mm equiv.), Optical SteadyShot™ Image Stabilization with Active Mode, 3.0-in. LCD (230k-dot), iAuto, iSCN, Intelligent AF, Sweep Panorama, Dynamic Range Optimizer, Easy Shooting Mode, Smile Shutter Technology, Self-Portrait Timer, Anti-blink Function, and HD Movie 1280 x 720 @ 30fps.
I bought this camera second hand. It is easy to use , has Easy mode , P, M , movie and Sweep panorama.
i like that it feels and looks metal , the 200gr makes it a good weight even over longer times. This camera uses a LI-ION accu (battery) for about 300 shots on a full charge , it takes MS pro duo . SD , SDHC , SD HX
with the flash on it is a bit slow , but that will have to do with recycle times wich is acceptable for non pro's .
the lens is a Sony G lens 25mm wide angle lens and has a range of 4.25-42.5 and a aperture of 3.5-5.2
it has a 3cm tft monitor of 230.000 pixel resolution , like most camera;s the screen gives a indication of the qualty , for the image quality you still need to see it bigger although the screen zoom range is more than fair
in P mode s lot can be edited what is not or barely possible with auto mode
in M mode there are even more options.
The camera is easy to use and gives good control over advanced settings and scenes.
