Default Overcast Sky E-Session - God's Giant Softbox

Man, don't you just love an overcast day! The light was so pretty everywhere. I brought an assistant along this time. I used a 580exII and an umbrella. I think I'm going to switch my old philosophy of doing e-sessions alone, and go for better lighting. C&C always welcome and encouraged. Thanks....Chris

I agree the light really makes a difference on these Chris. Really solid set with # 9 being a favorite. I also like the shallow dof in #2. Some great shots with which they should be pleased.

Thanks Brent! I rented an 85mm 1.2 for this month. I wanted to try it out. I'm not liking it too much. I love me some zoom lenses. I only used the 85 for a couple of these.

So all this with one off-camera strobe. Lovely series.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the comments!
Ashe, yep, one strobe on camera used as master, one off camera with an umbrella used as slave. I wanted to try to shoot this session using master/slave with ttl. It worked good. It was just tough to get the master and slave to talk to each other reliably. It was just an experiment for me. I don't do it anymore. It's too "hit and miss". I switched back to RF triggers and adjusting the flash manually. Thanks!....Chris

That's disappointing... about the flashes not talking to each other reliably that is. I am on the verge of picking up a 580EX II for that purpose.

Well, don't get me wrong. It works. But, you have to know what to do to get it to work. If I stuck with it, I could get a method going to make it work all the time. But, I'm so used to shooting manual flash...
Here's a limitation with doing the TTL. I like to shoot with the 70-200 alot. Well, with the commander on the camera, you have to put the slave flash a little farther back than I'd like it, due to distance constraints. Whereas with an RF trigger, I can put the remote flash where ever I'd like, than adjust the power as needed. Both methods require a 2nd person. (A voice acivated light stand) I say require...but, I mean, "it makes it 10000000% easier". Holler if you have any questions. Thanks....Chris
